Grant slaps me and my skin cries out. Again and again his palm connects with my soft flesh as I try to escape within my mind. I am lying on a beach. My skin is burning from the sun.
Snot drips onto my damp with tears pillow. Will this ever end?
‘Tree,’ I cry out, unable to bear it any longer. Grant scoops me into his arms. ‘Oh baby, I didn’t hurt you did I?’
‘It’s not as much fun as it sounded in the book,’ I snivel. ‘Lets have a cuddle instead.’
Written for Friday Fictioneers. A 100 word story based on a photo prompt.

Very interesting! This form of “fun” never appealed to me from either direction, but I see there’s even a *Safe Word* on The Simpsons. π
Is there? Interesting!
You’ve been reading that ’50 shades of Grey’ again, haven’t you? Very funny. π
I think I am one of the few people who haven’t read it yet! Thought I would be a little more light hearted after last weeks post.
I was about to make a “Shades of Grey” comment but I see Sandra beat me to it π I like the phrase “my skin cries out”.
Ah well, she tried it, didn’t like it, move on π
You don’t know til you try.
I’m another person who hasn’t read it and won’t be, so you’re not alone. π I do love the word “snivel” but as for the rest, I’ll pass. (If this is light-hearted, I may be glad I missed last week’s story!!)

We all have different humours I guess. I do apologise if I have caused any offence though.
No, no offense. Just not my sort of “fun”, what’s in the story, that is. You did the story well. Sorry for being unclear. π
Phew!
I’m a bit fuzzy from a sore throat/cold, so forgive the inept comment. π
Feel better soon π
Cold shower time. Tree!
π
Very interesting story – I don’t know if it’s fun, but S & M stuff never appealed to me – but to each their own. Live and let live! You wrote a good story, though! Nan π
Thanks Nan. Don’t think this couple will be trying it again!
I think it’s rarely as fun as in the books.. so I hope they got snuggly instead.
Yep. A cuddle and pizza in bed I think.
Oh wow! Can’t beat a little S&M… lol ok that was cheesy. Entertaining interpretation anyway!
Tee hee
Now if that was Anastasia Steele’s reaction we might have had a 50 shades of boredom instead π
I think it’s great to have a different take on the prompt.
Wouldn’t like to see the film version of that π
Just goes to show the power of books! Good story.
Thanks Karen
Good and well-written story. I could never understand liking to suffer pain. I’ve suffered a lot of pain and I never enjoyed a bit of it. Perhaps people who like S & M have never suffered much involuntary pain. If anyone likes pain, they’ll be thrilled to get old. π —Susan
Good point!
Seems we have a good club of people who’ve missed 50 Shades… but I like your take on a “safe word.” Very interesting use of the prompt; nice job.
Thanks for your comment.
Very funny and cleverly written.
Thanks Sarah Ann.
